No lovely fabric arrives at my door on the weekends!  I can’t wait for the week to begin because I know the UPS man will be knocking on my door with more beautiful fabric!  However, I did try out the new Clearly Perfect Angles.  I LOVE IT!  This is another great invention that years from now we won’t beleive we ever had to actually draw a line on our fabric to make a half-square-triangle!!  It’ll be like when my kids say “You didn’t have a gameboy when you were little??”

To use this you simply attach the vinyl to your sewing machine (it’s removable).  Line up the squares and sew…keeping the squares right along the line!  Wa-la!  TOO EASY!"

CPA

At Houston Quilt Market, I saw a demo of the Clearly Perfect Angles template that clings to your sewing surface to help you sew accurate 45 degree angles. WOW it works. I have always took the time to mark a diagonal on my small squares when making my flying geese units. No more marking is needed with this easy template guide which is so easy and fast to use. Check it out in the notions section of the SuzzettsFabric link. Here is a picture of the template installed on my sewing machine. As a bonus, the template includes 1/4 inch and 5/8 inch seam guides.

Oh Half Square Triangles, how I used to hate you. Then I discovered triangle on a roll and thangles and I liked you a little better, but I was too lazy to go out and buy rolls for all the different sizes. ..Then my LQS sent out a newsletter about a new tool from Quilt Market, Clearly Perfect Angles. And I have now good-enough-ly conquered the half square triangles. Finally.

Ok, so my angles are not PERFECT, but good enough for me. As Brenda says, finished is better than perfect! Clearly Perfect Angles does take some getting used to, but it's really not that bad. It's a window cling, unlike the Angler 2, which is a thin sheet of plastic. The window cling is nice because it's much easier to cut it and customize it to your machine. I used my seam ripper to cut the holes. Another point my friend Cheri noticed was that Clearly Perfect angles is longer, so you can line up your squares for a longer period of time. I love it, and I have used it quite a bit since I bought it.

Clearly Perfect Angles
Here’s another must-have tool to make your life so much easier! The Clearly Perfect Angle is a static cling you apply to the bed of your sewing machine. It has 1/4" seam allowances clearly marked. It also allows you to sew diagonally across any size square without drawing lines on the wrong side of your fabric squares.

But the best feature is that you don’t have to worry about losing the "key" which was used to line up similar tools. Simply adhere the CPA to your sewing machine bed and then use a seam ripper to remove the portion of the cling that covers your feed dogs. Voila! You’re ready to sew. If you ever remove it from your machine, the hole will tell you where to perfectly place the CPA. No more drawing lines on your fabric or wasting time trying to find the tiny clear plastic (and nearly invisible) key!

Personal Emails:

Thank you for designing and marketing the Clearly Perfect Angles. It's clearly perfect. I've just been sewing the star points on Terri Atkinson's Lucky Stars quilt. It's been a breeze! Pity I didn't discover this wonderful tool sooner. The 512 half square triangles I did for my nephew's quilt might have been a lot easier and he might have got the quilt quicker!

Just wanted to tell you that I love your Clearly Perfect Angles. It is awesome for half square and quarter square triangles. I love not having to draw the line on my squares. What I also discovered is that the 1/4 inch line works great for piecing charm squares and jelly roll strips. I have always struggled with the jagged edge but now I just follow the line. It's great! I think it helps my eyes and squinting. THANKS!!

Hi Kari,
This past weekend I purchased the CPA for my Brother embroidery machine with the bobbin on top.  You asked me to let you know how placing the CPA on my machine worked for me.  My bobbin cover comes off by using the right hand.  What I did was to cut on 3 sides to make a flap (your suggestion) that laid back to the left.  Sewing over this 3 sided opening posed no problems at all.  I have used the angles on my block of the month and the blocks turned out perfectly.  Thank you for creating such a useful tool and taking the time to show me how to adapt it to my machine.
